He is also a keen researcher, with a special interest in knee osteoarthritis, and has a dedication for excellence and personal care. On a constant journey of professional development and mentoring with some of the best in the business, he strives to do whatever he can to get you to your goals.

He loves living his active life, having played high-level rugby in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. He now enjoys spending the weekends camping, sailing, at the beach and frequenting the local cafes and restaurants.

Zachariah Jones

A local to the Gold Coast, Zachariah has lived in Palm Beach and Burleigh for most of his life – finishing his High Schooling at Elanora State High School.

Over the last four years, Zachariah has been involved in the strength and conditioning for Paddle Australia and Cycling Australia (now AusCycling) working with Olympic and Paralympic athletes competing in Sprint Kayak and Freestyle BMX while completing his Physiotherapy degree at Bond University.

Since graduating he has completed a six-month internship with the Gold Coast Knee Group helping athletes return to sport after ACL injury and reconstruction – and is continually involved in professional development.

Personally, he has had an extensive stint playing Rugby League for over 15 years, finishing his last season with the Tugun Seahawks where he played two seasons in A-Grade.

Having now been on both sides of sporting injuries, Zachariah understands what it takes to get athletes back to playing their sport and achieving their goals.   He loves all things Rugby League, Touch Football, and MMA – and enjoys spending his free time at the gym, or with his partner and his dog Maple walking along our sandy beaches right here in Palm Beach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy, is a healthcare profession that utilizes a variety of techniques and exercises to promote healing, improve mobility, and enhance physical function. It focuses on treating injuries, managing pain, and restoring optimal movement and functionality.

What conditions can physiotherapy help with?

Physiotherapy can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries (such as sprains, strains, and fractures), back and neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and chronic pain conditions.

How can physiotherapy help me?

Physiotherapy can help you by relieving pain, improving flexibility and strength, enhancing mobility and balance, facilitating injury recovery, preventing further injuries, and promoting overall physical well-being. A physiotherapist will assess your condition, develop a personalized treatment plan, and guide you through exercises, manual therapy, and other techniques to achieve your goals.

How long does a physiotherapy session last?

Initial consultations last between 60 minutes. This ensures we can spend enough time with you to truly understand your problem. Subsequent consultations are 30min. The frequency and duration of treatment will be determined based on your specific needs and treatment plan.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive physiotherapy?

No, you do not need a doctor's referral to seek physiotherapy services. However, you can receive funding from Medicare under the Enhanced Primary Care scheme. You can discuss this with your GP, who if eligible will provide you with a referral.

Will physiotherapy be painful?

Physiotherapy aims to alleviate pain, not cause additional discomfort. While some therapeutic techniques or exercises may involve temporary discomfort or soreness, your physiotherapist will ensure that the treatment is within your comfort level. It's important to communicate openly with your physiotherapist about any pain or discomfort you experience during the session.

How long does it take to see results from physiotherapy?

The timeline for seeing results from physiotherapy can vary depending on the condition being treated, its severity, and individual factors. Some individuals may experience improvement after a few sessions, while others may require a longer treatment period. Your physiotherapist will discuss the expected timeline and monitor your progress throughout the course of your treatment.

Can physiotherapy help prevent future injuries?

Yes, physiotherapy plays a crucial role in injury prevention. By assessing your movement patterns, identifying areas of weakness or imbalance, and providing targeted exercises and education, a physiotherapist can help you develop proper mechanics, strengthen vulnerable areas, and reduce the risk of future injuries.
